New nets at Seshego Cricket Club to nurture talent in the area

The new nets funded by the Hollywood foundation will not only be used by the cricket players but also by other sport departments such as tennis and softball.

POLOKWANE – After noticing the effort and hard work of the Seshego Cricket Club (SCC) when they practise and compete, Hollywood Foundation decided to fund the club by upgrading their old nets at the Seshego Stadium.

KFC Mini Cricket provincial co-ordinator Nthabiseng Phosa who is in charge of developing cricket in Limpopo and who is also the marketing manager for Limpopo Impala Cricket, welcomed the guests from various organisations.

The club was proud to host the relaunch of their upgraded nets last Thursday in the presence of the Hollywood Foundation, KFC Mini Cricket junior players, SCC former players and coaches as well as the Limpopo Impala Cricket management team.

Andy Ngcobo from Hollywood Foundation explained the importance of the foundation and getting involved.

“We are happy that we could make a difference in a community where we see potential and passion in what they do. We sponsored the nets, the rest is up to the team on how to take care of it and keep it in good tact. We also know that these nets will create more and new opportunities for some of the players. Lastly, it gives us great joy to see the community coming together to experience such a great and unforgettable moment,” Ngcobo said.

Hollywood Foundation was established in 2021 with the goal to play an even bigger role in the communities and they are on a mission to bring hope, as well as work to as many people as possible to make a sustainable impact.

Chairperson of SCC, Sakie Mabala was grateful during his speech.

“It’s an honour to be here after 20 years of playing this sport, to witness more kids who are following the same route as I did. These nets have seen a lot of legends pracising, and now playing at a higher level cricket.

“Thank you once again to Hollywood Foundation for sponsoring the renovation of our cricket nets, this goes a long way into improving and paving a better future for the people of Seshego.

“I thank everyone who took time to come here and witness this occasion,” Mabala said.

Officials from the Department of Sport honoured the event as they encouraged the junior cricket players to never give up on their dreams of becoming successful cricket players.

Mabala concluded that the new nets will not only be used by the cricket players but also by other sport departments such as tennis and softball.
