Serving Kids raises awareness in the Polokwane community

Serving Kids Through Community is a non-profit organisation that spread awareness about vulnerable children in Polokwane recently.

POLOKWANE – Serving Kids Through Community initiative held their first awareness campaign on December 10 at the Taberna Dei Moederkampus.

Serving Kids is registered as a non-profit organisation that aims to make people aware of children without parents, in foster care and those living in sub-standard conditions in Polokwane.

Founders Albert, and his wife Michelle, van der Westhuizen said the launch was aimed at creating awareness.

“People can get involved to support and encourage foster and adoptive families, support social workers to raise awareness for the need for foster parents, and places of
safety for vulnerable children,” Albert said.

The couple said the idea of the initiative is to bring practical support to the doorstep of a foster family with the help of the community.

The campus was decorated for the ceremony with colourful LED lights to celebrate the festivities and to create a welcoming atmosphere, where people could
come together to express their support for the children and to spend time together.

As experienced adoptive parents, the couple added that they always stay up to date on how they can get involved in adoption processes through social workers,
donations, volunteers and financial contributions.

They asked people to like their social media pages on Facebook and Instagram @servingkidsthroughcommunity.
