Transport Department warns about heavy traffic

The Department of Transport and Community Safety urges road users and shoppers to remain patient as a lot of activity is expected today (December 24).

LIMPOPO – Moderate to heavy traffic is still expected on the N1 from Hammanskraal, all the way up to Musina.

A significant number of vehicles is also expected at Beitbridge Border Post crossing to Zimbabwe, and the Groblersbrug Border Post to Botswana

Impatient motorists at tollgates are warned against driving on the yellow lane or the wrong side of the road, as this causes more congestion, delays, and even accidents.

A lot of movement of vehicles is anticipated in towns and around business districts across the province today, as people will be making their last dash for the Christmas weekend shopping.

Traffic law enforcement officers are deployed at major routes and other critical points to manage the flow of traffic.

Motorists are therefore urged to drive with caution, maintain safe following distance, and look out for pedestrians at all times.
