CDM reclaims clean audit opinion
CDM Mayor Mamedupi Teffo said that she was pleased that the municipality has managed to reclaim a clean audit.
POLOKWANE – Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) has achieved a clean audit opinion for the 2021/22 financial year.
This was confirmed by Auditor General Matshwenyego Rashokeng during an ordinary council meeting held last Friday when Council considered and adopted the annual report for the same financial year.
Rashokeng addressed Council and said that he was happy with the set of financial statements that were submitted for audit and explained that a clean audit means that every cent that was spent was accounted for.
The chairperson of the audit committee, Stanley Ngobeni said the clean audit outcome comes after the municipality successfully cleared all findings from the previous financial year. He expressed gratitude to Council for supporting the Committee on its mission of the ‘road to clean audit’.
CDM Mayor Mamedupi Teffo said that she was pleased that the municipality has managed to reclaim a clean audit.
“This is in line with the commitment I made during the inauguration of this Council to put up a remedial audit action plan, tighten internal controls and clear all audit findings from the previous financial year. We commend and thank all councillors and staff for rallying behind this commitment to reposition our institution as a revered point of benchmark in financial management”, she said.
The municipalities in CDM’s area of jurisdiction have also performed well. Polokwane Municipality has improved from a qualified to an unqualified audit opinion, while Blouberg and Molemole municipalities retained their unqualified audit opinion. Lepelle-Nkumpi has achieved a qualified audit opinion.
“CDM has committed to assist and support all local municipalities to get things right, clear their material findings and achieve clean audit opinions in terms of Operation Clean Audit 2024,” Teffo said.
