Give permission for measles vaccine – Health MEC
Following the measles outbreak in South Africa, Limpopo Health MEC pleads with parents/guardians to sign consent forms in order for their children to be vaccinated.
POLOKWANE – Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba pleads with the parents and guardians of children aged five to 15 years, to sign consent forms available at schools and clinics for their children to be vaccinated against measles.
Following the measles outbreak in South Africa, Limpopo is currently leading with a total of 378 measles cases, according to the National Department of Health.
Measles is a viral inflection that affects children very seriously, and is easily preventable by vaccines.
To decrease the rates of measles in the province, the department launched the measles vaccination campaign at Greenside Primary School on April 20.
This campaign is scheduled to run until June 9.
The department reported that in just one day, they vaccinated 527 children at Greenside Primary.
The MEC says that by 2030, measles should be a thing of the past and urged parents to sign consent forms. “The lives of your children are in your hands,” she remarked.
