Lehlogonolo hits the right notes on the saxophone

Growing up, Lehlogonolo Tshwana would find the saxophone part of a song more intriguing than the rest which sparked her love for the instrument.

POLOKWANE – Not often does one encounter a female playing instruments in a band, never mind a saxophone.

Lehlogonolo Tshwana who is originally from Dennilton is a female saxophonist at Get Down Productions in Polokwane.

Tshwana grew up in a music-loving family and every time music was played, she would find the saxophone part more intriguing than the rest of the song.

After telling her parents how much she loved the saxophone, they eventually got it for her as a gift.

“I learned how to play a saxophone by myself by watching some of my favourite saxophonists and by attending a few classes. I also learned a lot from Silas Nkwele before attending the Paul Rapetsoa Institute for the Arts (PRIDA). I then joined the Mahuma group which goes hand in hand with Get Down Productions in October 2021,” says Tshwana.

She hopes to blend herself into the music industry through her skills and to one day feature or collaborate with other artists and saxophonists, respectively.

Tshwana also indicated that she hopes to go to oversees to play and to also inspire the youth, more especially females, to play the saxophone.

Apart from her playing ability, Tshwana is also an actress and has performed at exclusives at Library Gardens as a main character.
