MOKOPANE- Two karatekas, sempai Koena Mokgehle and senpai Phuti Sekwadi from Limpopo Kyokushin Karate Academy will jet off to Thailand in August for an international karate tournament.
The duo will represent South Africa and will compete against 64 karatekas from different countries at the World Kumite Organisation Tournament.
Their talent and hard work in many local and national karate tournaments have earned them a spot at this international event, where they will be representing South Africa and competing against other karatekas from across the globe.
Sensei Molefi Moloto, the dojo head and senior instructor at the academy who has also been invited to be part of a panel of judges, said the karatekas are capable of winning their divisions at the event.
“They have been working hard in the past seasons and I think they will represent the country well. They will compete in the 75kg men’s category as well as middleweight open fights.
“We wish them well and truly believe they are capable of winning all their fights at the competition.”
