Kamogelo opens his heart by raising funds

Through hard work and dedication, Kamogelo was able to buy socks for learners of Segooa-Kgala Primary School.

MOKOPANE- Kamogelo Nong, a Gr 9 learner from Hoërskool Waterberg is part of the International Leadership Academy in collaboration with Celebration Church Mokopane.

One of his assignments is to reach out to the community.

With winter slowly but surely creeping up on us, and there are many children who have to go to school with broken shoes and no socks.

Kamogelo’s inspiration for his project came from his friend, Lebogang Mboweni.

“I started selling sweets at my school and in the local areas where I live. It took two months of selling and saving before I had enough to take the project further.”

Through hard work and dedication, he was able to buy socks for learners of Segooa-Kgala Primary School located at Mahwelereng, Zone 1,with the money that he raised.

Kamogelo says with the help of the teachers at Segooa-Kgala, he was able to donate the school socks to the learners he knows.

“These are learners who cannot afford socks. I chose this school since it is located in my area, it is not usually seen or noticed because it does not have a large number of learners.

“A lot of people don’t focus much on the school’s needs and I figured I could try my best and help them in any way possible.

“I saw that the greatest need was school socks.”

The fundraising journey gave me joy and the happy faces of the learners I was able to help, cannot be bought. I was able to help protect the children’s feet this winter.
