WATCH: Dashcam footage of arrest of Savannah Mall armed robbers

The five men were arrested on the N3 near Hilton in Kwa Zulu-Natal on Friday (May 19) following the jewellery store robbery at Savannah Mall a week earlier.

POLOKWANE – Dashcam footage of the arrest of the five men allegedly responsible for the jewellery store robbery at Savannah Mall on May 12 has surfaced online.

The video, posted on Twitter by Vehicle Trackers shows members of Magma Security and Investigations, the Hilton Flying Squad and the Pietermaritzburg K9 Unit intercepting a white sedan on the N3 south towards the Hilton offramp on Friday (May 19).

According to the post, intelligence was gathered that led the police to the suspects in KwaZulu-Natal and that members of the Polokwane cluster alerted the team to the suspects’ whereabouts.

The group of armed men entered the store at around 09:00 on May 12 and demanded money and gold from a 33-year-old woman who was on duty.

They then proceeded to the display area and safe and took jewellery worth thousands of rands and put it in bags. Two of the suspects assaulted the employees before they fled the scene in a grey sedan.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the men who are between the ages of 25 and 35 were found in possession of some of the stolen items and the getaway vehicle at the time of the arrest.

Reports suggest the suspects are all from KwaZulu-Natal and were transported to Polokwane to be charged with robbery with aggravated circumstances, however, this was not confirmed by Limpopo police at the time of publishing.
