Foreign nationals nabbed in Polokwane CBD for drug dealing

Two men were arrested on the corner of Voortrekker and Grobler Streets after one of the suspects attempted to flee from the police.

POLOKWANE – Two foreign nationals are expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of dealing and possession of drugs following their arrest on July 6.

The duo were arrested by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit in the Polokwane CBD during a disruptive operation.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the team received information about a male suspect selling drugs in the area in a grey sedan.

“A motor vehicle that fit the description was spotted with two occupants driving along Voortrekker Street and was intercepted. A 29-year-old male attempted to flee on foot but was chased and arrested on the corner of Voortrekker and Grobler Street,” Ledwaba’s statement read.

The man was searched and found in possession of three balls of heroin with an estimated street value of R6 000.

Ledwaba says the vehicle was searched and police discovered four more balls of heroin that were concealed with an estimated street value of R50 000.

“A 34-year-old male accomplice who is the owner of the vehicle was arrested on the spot. The vehicle was also seized together with the drugs,” he said.

Ledwaba added that police investigations continue.
