Attempted murder and resisting arrest charges for Mokopane farmer
David Maree is said to have assaulted a man and knocked him over after the man asked for money owed to him.

MOKOPANE – A 55-year-old man appeared in the Mokopane Magistrates Court today (March 13) on charges of attempted murder and resisting arrest.
David Maree, a farmer from Amatava, was arrested on Tuesday after an argument broke out between him and the complainant.
The NPA’s regional spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says the complainant and his wife went to Maree’s homestead to collect payment for a job previously done.
The complainant was hired by Maree to build a one-room house for R4 500 but was only paid R600 for the work done.
Malabi-Dzhangi said an argument ensued between the complainant and Maree.
“Maree assaulted the complainant with an open hand and headed towards the complaintant’s car and knocked him over. The complainant sustained multiple injuries on his leg and was taken to the hospital,” she said.
Maree will remain in custody until March 20 when he will next appear for a bail hearing.
