Young Limpopo firefighter pursues American dream

Motivated by his love for firefighting and a desire to contribute positively to his community, Thabang Alex Teffo embarked on a journey of hard work and dedication.

POLOKWANE – Thabang Alex Teffo, a dedicated firefighter with a passion for serving his community, is making headlines as he shares his journey from joining the Working on Fire (WOF) Programme in Limpopo in August 2019 to pursuing his dreams in the United States of America.

Fresh from high school, Teffo found his calling in fighting fires to protect the environment and saving lives, and sought to enhance his skills to gain valuable experience by joining WOF.

Motivated by his love for firefighting and a desire to contribute positively to his community, he embarked on a journey of hard work and dedication.

Reflecting on his journey, the former WOF firefighter emphasizes the importance of teamwork, support, and rigorous training that he experienced within the WOF Programme.

“I like the support, teamwork, and the training. I’m currently studying at one of the nation’s top community colleges, Colby Community College,” he said.

Teffo is also a proud member of the cross-country and track and field teams.

With aspirations of obtaining a master degree in criminal justice, he demonstrates determination and perseverance in pursuit of his goals. “I believe in hard work and dedication.”

His journey to the United States was not without challenges, as he tirelessly raised funds for his trip.

However, he remained steadfast in his determination, never giving up until he achieved his dream.

As Teffo continues to pursue his aspirations and contribute to the firefighting community, he embodies the essence of the American dream, a demonstration of resilience, persistence, and firm commitment.
