Polokwane Municipality to distribute title deeds until May

While the dates are still subject to change due to circumstances, he said those who have been notified of the dates would be informed in time of any changes.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality will be distributing title deeds to residents of the extensions and Seshego sporadically between today and May 9, spokesperson Thipa Selala confirmed last week.

While the dates are still subject to change due to circumstances, he said those who have been notified of the dates would be informed in time of any changes.

He confirmed this after the Department of Human Settlements handed over the responsibility to distribute title deeds to some municipalities across Limpopo recently, after having also led the distribution to some military veterans in Disteneng in March.

Selala outlined the planned distribution schedule as follows:

April 25: Extension 78.

May 3: Extensions 40, 44, 71 and 78B.

May 8: Extensions 133 and 134.

May 9: Ward 37 (Seshego F).

In the Molemole Municpality, MEC Basikopo Makamu handed over a title deed to Georgina Sefolo at her doorstep on Friday while conducting a door-to-door handover of such documents to the rightful beneficiaries in the area.

During the draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultations held two weeks ago at the Ngoako Ramahlodi hall between municpal administrative and political executives alongside community members, extension 133 representative Beef Nkoana said his group demanded an urgent action plan for the distribution of title deeds, for the Reconstruction and Development Programme houses they have been living in for well over three years now.

In an immediate response to his request, Mayor John Mpe said it would be addressed and added that their new responsibility to distribute title deeds from the department will help with speeding the process.
