Thohoyandou man allegedly stabs girlfriend multiple times

A 30-year-old woman was certified dead in her home after her body was found in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.

LIMPOPO – A 40-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Thohoyandou for allegedly stabbing is girlfriend to death with a sharp object.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the man was traced and arrested on Saturday (June 1) after the woman’s (30) body was found in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds inside her home in Bunzhe Village.

“Emergency services certified the victim dead on the scene. Her identity is currently withheld for investigation purposes,” Ledwaba’s statement read.

He added that a case of murder has been opened and that the motive behind the incident is unknown.

“Police investigations continue,” he said.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has expressed concern regarding prevalent incidents of Gender Based Violence in the province and urged community members to report all violence perpetrated against women and children to the police without fail.

“As society, we need to work together to end an embedded culture of violence. Violence against women and children should be discouraged at all costs. Men are supposed to protect women and children in their respective spaces,” she said.

The suspect will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court soon.
