Operation Safer City bears fruit
Operation Safer City saw multiple arrests, vehicle impoundments and the closure of three spaza suspected of operating illegally and selling expired goods.
POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality, Eyes of the Nation, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders came together last week to join forces in an operation that aims to ensure a safer city for all.
Operation Safer City saw multiple arrests, vehicle impoundments and the closure of three spaza suspected of operating illegally and selling expired goods.
“The operation will continue as we aim to have a safer city focused on clearing out various things that may pose a danger to the public at large,” said Eyes of the Nation CEO Fannie Kgopa.

Such operations are important in communities so residents can do things without fear of being in danger.
The operation also led to the arrest and detainment of 10 undocumented foreign nationals, the arrest of a suspect for dealing with drugs, seven compliance notices being issued and three vehicles impounded which are not roadworthy.
The compliance notices were issued to businesses to emphasise the regulations they should adhere to in order to have a safer working environment.
