NMS learners receive first aid certificates

Learners at Northern Muslim School have completed a first aid course, mastering life-saving skills that can help in emergency situations.

POLOKWANE – Learners at Northern Muslim School recently completed a comprehensive first aid course, receiving certificates for their dedication to learning essential life-saving skills.

The week-long course focused on equipping learners with practical knowledge in first aid, health, and occupational safety techniques.

Throughout the programme, learners mastered critical skills such as stopping bleeding, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and immobilising fractures with splints.

These skills are crucial for addressing common and potentially life-threatening medical emergencies effectively.

Khalid Moudjahed, one of the learners who completed the course, expressed confidence in their newfound abilities: “This course has prepared us to provide immediate, expert first aid care in medical emergencies. We now have the skills to handle situations like wounds, head injuries, choking incidents, burns, and fractures.
We learned how to assess injuries and control bleeding effectively.”

Principal Takura Warinda emphasised the practical application of these skills within the school community: “Our learners are now equipped to handle any emergency that arises. They will play vital roles during sports events, in our sick bays, and whenever their assistance is needed.”
