Krunies gear up for robotics glory

Curro Heuwelkruin learners shine in World Robot Olympiads Limpopo, showcasing their tech skills and innovation.

POLOKWANE – Curro Heuwelkruin learners showcased their technological skills in the World Robot Olympiads (WRO) Limpopo competition which was held at their school on Saturday.

The WRO is a global event that integrates science, technology, education and robotics, offering young people a platform to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills through engaging and educational robotics competitions.

The event attracts participants from around the world, fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration among the youth.

In the WRO, teams compete in various provincial competitions with the goal of qualifying for the national final.

All competing teams are ranked on a national level, and the top 10 to 15 teams from this ranking are invited to the national event in Gauteng.

Success at the national level can lead to an invitation to represent South Africa at the WRO international event, providing a unique opportunity for young innovators to showcase their talents on the global stage.

The learners from Curro Heuwelkruin demonstrated their dedication and skill in the competition, making their mark in the field of robotics and technology.

Results by categories:

1. Robo Mission – Elementary
Team members: Brooklyn Rathmann, Joy Muyoma and Michael Nkuna.
Results: First place – received a certificate and gold medals.
Team members: Renard Viljoen and Hayden de Beer.
Results: Second place – received a certificate and silver medals.
2. Robo Mission – Junior High
Team members: David Ogwu, Musa Ngobeni and London Rathmann.
Results: First place – received a certificate and gold medals.
