Lebowakgomo police officer locked in boot during house robbery

After robbing the female Sergeant of money, three unknown suspects locked her in the boot of her car before fleeing the scene with her key.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo police say a manhunt has been launched for a trio of unknown male suspects for a house robbery incident at the residence of a Lebowakgomo SAPS member.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the female Sergeant arrived from work at around 22:30 last Thursday (January 2) driving a white vehicle in the Mothibangwanamago village.

The Sergeant opened the gate and noticed three unknown male suspects standing against the wall inside the yard.

“The suspects ordered the Sergeant to keep quiet at gunpoint while one of the suspects disarmed her of her official firearm with ammunition before she was taken into the house.”

The trio then demanded cash while searching the house and managed to rob an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim’s purse.

“The suspects then locked the victim in the boot of her vehicle and fled the scene on foot in possession of the car key. The victim’s colleagues were dispatched to her residence the following evening after not reporting for duty on January 3,” Ledwaba said.

The police found the gate locked and the garage door open with lights on inside the house. They managed to rescue the victim and found her with a swollen right arm.

“Anyone with information that can assist in arresting the suspects should contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Andries Letoaba on 072 576 0974; the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111; at the nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp. Police investigations continue,” Ledwaba said.
