No improvement in Polokwane’s reservoir levels – Municipality

The Polokwane Municipality says reservoir levels and water pumping capacities remain severely strained.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality says there has been no improvement in reservoir levels since the weekend due to multiple power supply interruptions affecting municipal water sources and those managed by Lepelle Northern Water.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says they are actively monitoring affected areas and deploying water tankers to provide temporary relief where possible.

As of this morning, reservoir levels and water pumping capacities remain severely strained:

– Reservoir Levels:
o Potgieter: 0% (Completely empty; no water available)
o 50Ml Krugersburg: 0% (No stored water; unable to supply areas dependent on this reservoir)
o 30Ml Dome: 0% (Dry; no water in storage)
o 30Ml Flat: Critically low at 6% (May result in low pressure or no supply in affected areas)
o Seshego: 0% (No water available for distribution)

– Water Pumping Capacity:
o Olifants: (Water is being supplied, but technical faults with the meter prevent accurate monitoring)
o Ebenezer: Operating at 140 l/s (Insufficient for demand)
o Penina Park: Only 40 l/s (Limited supply)
o Doornkraal: 110 l/s (Moderate but not enough to stabilize the system)
o SRN: 3ML (Significantly low)
o Dalmada Final: 11.4ML (Inadequate for full service)
o Seshego New Plant: Only 3.7ML available (Well below demand)

“Residents receiving supply are urged to use water sparingly and responsibly during this challenging time. For prompt assistance and to report water and sanitation issues, please use the MyPolokwane Citizen App to ensure swift municipal response,” Selala said.
