Westenburg police search for two missing people

Police seek community help in the search for missing teen Precious Mapaila and 24-year-old, mentally challenged, Nakedi Kokela.

POLOKWANE – Westenburg police have launched search operations for two missing individuals, a 16-year-old girl from Seshego and a 24-year-old man from Westenburg, both of whom disappeared on Friday, January 31.

In the first case, police are searching for Precious Mapaila, a Gr 9 student from Seshego Extension 73A.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Monatse Mamabolo, reports suggest she left her home at night while her parents were asleep and did not inform anyone about her whereabouts.

At this stage, it remains unknown what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.

In a separate case, authorities are also looking for Nakedi Kokela, a 24-year-old man from Westenburg Extension 71A.

Nakedi, who is reported to be mentally challenged, was last seen by his mother and younger brother after a family meeting. He left the house without his cell phone and has not returned. He was last seen wearing black trousers, a T-shirt, and black sneakers.

“Westenburg police have conducted search operations at locations frequently visited by Nakedi, but no leads have been found so far,” says Mamabolo.

Police urge anyone with information about Precious or Nakedi’s whereabouts to come forward.

“Those with details on Precious Mapaila’s case can contact Investigating Officer Detective Captain Eddie Tharaga at 082 565 7476.

“Information regarding Nakedi Kokela’s disappearance can be reported to Detective Commander Lieutenant Colonel Manganye at 082 565 8566.”

Alternatively, tip-offs can be provided via the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111, the nearest police station, or the MySAPSApp.

Police investigations into both cases are still ongoing.
