VIDEO: Gabriela se dansdroom: Van SA tot Ierland

Gabriela se gesin samel tans geld in om haar droom om in Ierland te gaan deelneem, te bewaarheid.

POLOKWANE – Wat begin het as ‘n speelse dans op haar pa, Xabian Els, se musiek, het vir die negejarige Gabriela Els ‘n passie en ‘n pad na sukses geword. Sy dans reeds vier jaar by Maryke Botha van Rising Star Dance Studio en het in September aan die Dance Talent & Model Association (DTMA) Nasionale Danskompetisie deelgeneem.

“Ek hou daarvan om te dans, nuwe mense te ontmoet en nuwe danspassies aan te leer,” vertel sy.

By dié kompetisie het sy in klopdans, hip-hop, kontemporêr en vrystyl disko meegeding en is met ‘n spesiale beoordelaarskeusetoekenning vereer. “Ek was baie bly oor al die sertifikate. Dit wys dat as jy hard werk, word jy beloon.”

In Desember het sy haar talent verder bewys deur aan die UDC-SA finale kompetisie deel te neem. Kort daarna het ‘n groot eer haar te beurt gevang: ‘n uitnodiging om in Oktober Suid-Afrika te verteenwoordig by die Odyssey of Dance International Championship in Ierland.

Nou moet Gabriela en haar ma, Lara Els, R130 000 insamel om hierdie droom te bewaarheid. “Ons moet teen 31 Maart ‘n deposito van R30 000 betaal. Ons verkoop verskeie items in ‘n poging om geld in te samel en hoop ook om ‘n borg te kry,” verduidelik Lara.
