The recent XCC and XCO races marked the first events in a series of four competitions scheduled in Limpopo.

These races offer participants the opportunity to earn their provincial colours in XCC, XCO and XCM, provided they meet all the necessary criteria. Throughout the event, persistent rainfall transformed the rocky trails into flowing streams, adding an extra layer of challenge for all riders.

The day kicked off with the heart-pounding Cross Country Short Track (XCC) races. Despite the track being slick from continued overnight rains, riders showcased unparalleled skill and determination.

The compact, less technical course demanded not just speed but tactical brilliance. Spectators were on the edge of their seats as cyclists negotiated multiple laps, each more intense than the last.

With barely a moment to catch their breath, participants transitioned to the Cross Country (XCO) races. This segment tested endurance across age categories, with courses ranging from two to six laps, each averaging 5km.

The varied terrain of the estate provided the perfect backdrop for this gruelling challenge, pushing riders to their limits.

Soretha Lubbe won the veteran women XCO race.

While every participant displayed commendable grit, a few standout performances deserve special mention: in the elite men’s XCC category is Waldo Strijdom the winner of the day while Beanca Jacobs won the elite women’s XCC category.

In the junior men’s XCO, Henro van der Walt was crowned as winner and Sophia van Wyk in the junior women’s XCO category.

Aron van den Borre won the sub junior boys XCO race.
