Polokwane Muni working to restore power to parts of the city

Areas including Westenburg, Nirvana, Rainbow Park, Laboria and Seshego have been without electricity for hours, leaving residents and businesses frustrated.

POLOKWANE – Municipal technical teams have been dispatched to several areas in the city affected by power outages.

The Polokwane Municipality says they are aware of the unplanned power outages affecting various areas and that they are due to electrical faults.

Areas affected include:

  • Sandriver Boreholes – Off due to faulty medium-voltage overhead line components. Estimated restoration time: 12:00
  • Portion of Madiba Park – Faulty medium-voltage cable termination affecting one mini-substation at Phiri Street. Estimated restoration time: 11:30
  • Portion of Seshego Zone 8 – Faulty medium-voltage cable termination. Estimated restoration time: 12:00
  • Portion of Seshego Zone 4 – Medium-voltage ring-feeder underground cable fault affecting two mini-substations near numbers 530 and 908. Estimated restoration time: 14:00
  • Seshego Zone 6 Factory – Medium-voltage underground cable fault. Estimated restoration time: 14:00
  • Westenburg, Nirvana & Rainbow Park – High-voltage network trip; teams are conducting fault investigations and isolation. Estimated restoration time: 11:00
  • Portion of Polokwane CBD (Market and Devenish Street) – Estimated restoration time: 11:30
  • Portion of Laboria Industrial area – Estimated restoration time: 11:30

“Our teams are working to restore power as soon as possible. We urge residents and businesses to remain patient and make necessary arrangements while restoration is underway,” says municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala.

He added that residents are encouraged to report any electricity-related issues using the MyPolokwane Citizen App.

“This app offers a convenient way to log service requests and track progress in real time,” he adds.
