Limpopo child centre gets vital community support

The Mochaochele Child Development Centre received generous donations from various organisations, businesses, and local figures to support its children.

POLOKWANE – The Mochaochele Child Development Centre in Jerusalem Sengatane extension 2 received an outpouring of support last Thursday when various organisations and businesses came together to donate essential goods to the centre.

Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, represented by Lazarus Molemela, partnered with Rise Against Hunger, represented by Calvin Tshuma, to donate 10 boxes of food packs containing rice. Sassa contributed computers, while Nedbank Polokwane (Landdros Maré branch) provided tables, chairs, whiteboards, notice boards, paper trays and paper bins.

Hope World Wide (HWW) donated food supplies, while Mrs Limpopo 2024, Manani Botes, extended her generosity by donating clothing to the local community.

Mrs Limpopo 2025 runner-up, Eva Mojela, gifted the children with toothpaste, toothbrushes, face cloths and a large tree portrait painting she drew and coloured in herself. Additionally, Face of Limpopo Teen 2025 semi-finalist, Mitchell Moyana, volunteered to plant vegetables on the centre’s premises.

The centre’s director and founder, Lucas Seema, along with his daughter Shirley, the principal, welcomed the donations alongside Martha Kgomo from Bohlale Creche.

Expressing his gratitude, Lucas said: “We’re beyond grateful for these generous donations. They will go a long way in supporting the children. We would also be very happy if someone could donate a minibus to help transport the children, as we currently use a bakkie for free transport since the centre was founded in 2017.”

He said at the centre, young minds are nurtured and groomed to become valuable and unique members of society.
