Keynote insights on farming and finance

Adv Ronald King from PSG spoke of the importance of financial planning for farmers looking to leave a lasting legacy.

“You should create wealth that lasts more than one generation. One of the reasons people go broke is because they do not plan. Talk to your children about money, the farm’s future, and the cost of running a household. Start planning today for your children’s future.” He also advised on investing in high-risk products and securing personal savings outside the farm’s finances.

Dr Johan Cloete captivated the audience with a session on low-stress cattle handling. He highlighted the importance of patience and passion in cattle farming and shared insights on insemination techniques, pregnancy detection and heat cycles in cows.

“A cow is on heat every 21 days, and her behaviour will change. If she is stressed, she will not conceive. If insemination is successful, she will give birth 283 days later.”

Expert-led discussions

One of the event’s highlights was economist Dawie Roodt’s presentation on Economic Insight for Your Agricultural Future.
