Electrician turns teacher at Flora Park High
Kwena Ngoepe transitions to teaching, using his skills to inspire and equip learners at Flora Park Comprehensive High School.

POLOKWANE – Kwena Ngoepe, a qualified electrician, made a bold career change to become an electrical technology and natural sciences teacher at Flora Park Comprehensive High School. With a newfound passion for teaching, he feels he has truly discovered his calling.
“Teaching is very interesting, and I have realised that it requires effort,” Ngoepe told Review. He acknowledges that building relationships with learners takes time, but with structured lessons and active engagement, a strong teacher-student bond can develop.
His decision to enter the teaching profession was driven by the desire to share his knowledge and skills with the next generation. “Taking my skills with me to the grave wouldn’t be fair to future generations. I want to prepare them for a better future,” he said. Ngoepe believes that passing on his expertise will not only benefit his learners but also the broader community.
Success in his class, he says, requires learners to match his effort and dedication. This means completing classwork, homework, and assignments while also demonstrating curiosity and a willingness to learn beyond the classroom.
Outside of teaching, Ngoepe enjoys playing soccer, though he humbly admits he’s not the best at it. As he continues his teaching journey, he remains committed to inspiring and equipping his learners with the skills they need to succeed.
