Wizz Kids Preschool develops motor skills

Zahira Cassim highlights the importance of motor skills in young children for everyday tasks, emotional development, and self-confidence.

POLOKWANE – Zahira Cassim, the principal and teacher at Wizz Kids Preschool, recently spoke to Review about the importance of strong motor skills in young children.

According to Cassim, building good motor skills provides children with the tools they need for life. These skills are essential for tasks like writing, drawing, and even everyday actions such as tying shoelaces, which also contributes to emotional development and boosts self-confidence.

“Fine motor development plays a key role in children’s engagement with fine arts, drawing, and writing. Writing itself is a complex process, requiring not only physical skill but also knowledge of language, visual information, and concepts of print,” she explained.

Cassim said that children who struggle with motor skills may face challenges in school and socially, which can impact their self-confidence. “Early childhood is the golden age for developing motor skills. It’s the best time to stimulate these abilities, which is exactly what we focus on at Wizz Kids,” she remarked.

Wizz Kids Preschool, which also operates a daycare centre, recently relocated from Rabe Street to a more spacious location at 32 Webster Street, within the Capricorn High School premises. “The new space is designed to better cater to the needs of the children and enhance their learning environment.”
