Feeding scheme supports Polokwane community
The Pathmadevi Feeding Scheme distributed 500 food parcels and was supported by local volunteers and donors.

POLOKWANE – Last Saturday was again a special event for some of the needy people of the city when a local NGO prepared and distributed 500 food parcels consisting of a stew of sugar beans for protein, carrots for beta-carotene, potatoes to boost carbohydrates and cabbage cooked in a mixture of spices which includes spicy onions, coriander and a special breyani mix.
The Pathmadevi Feeding Scheme is an NGO that was founded in Durban by local resident Pethambaram Francis and his wife, before she passed away from Covid-19 in 2020. Francis then relocated to Polokwane and carried on with his work, assisted by his son Geshim and his wife, Aneshrie.
The NGO delivers food at the Indian Centre, the parking area next to Goseame and various other places in the city and also supports the paediatric oncology ward at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital and Siloe School for the Blind.
Last Saturday, the Francis trio was assisted by Rotarian, Dr Tedros Amha and a neighbour, Jonathan Padavatan and a group of volunteers.
According to Pethambaram, the NGO is financed from their own funds and they are doing it in memory of his late wife. “We are blessed and it is a privilege to be in the position to give something back to the community,” he said.
