SPCA inspector marks 20 years of service
Zac Nemutaduni, with the Polokwane SPCA, advocates for animal welfare and educating communities on responsible pet ownership.
POLOKWANE – Twenty years ago, Zac Nemutaduni embarked on a journey with the Polokwane SPCA as a trainee inspector, a role that has led him to various parts of South Africa and shaped his passion for animal welfare.
Starting with his promotion to inspector just two years later, Zac’s career took him to Durban, Johannesburg, and ultimately back to Polokwane, where he continues his work at the SPCA.
Zac says the most fulfilling part of his job is when his team goes out into communities to educate people on how to properly care for their animals. “I really dislike it when people abuse animals. Our main objective at the SPCA is to protect animals from cruelty and to educate the public about responsible pet ownership.”
Looking back over the past two decades, Zac fondly recalls the experiences and knowledge he gained working at various SPCA branches. “It was nice to see how different SPCA branches are managed and how they operate.”
Zac acknowledges the challenges that come with his job, particularly when dealing with both animal abuse and mistreatment of SPCA staff.
“I handle everyone with respect and patience,” he says. “Communication is key. People are different, and you should treat everyone with respect.”
Outside of his professional life, Zac is a proud fur-dad to a Chihuahua. “Owning an animal is a choice,” he says. “You must love them and have a passion for them.”
Zac’s journey in the SPCA has not only been about animal protection but also about spreading love, respect, and responsibility for our furry companions.
