Planned water shutdown to affect supply to Polokwane

The Olifantspoort Scheme will be shutdown for 48-hours in order for essential maintenance to be carried out.

POLOKWANE – Residents should prepare ahead of time as a planned water shutdown will negatively affect supply to Polokwane next week.

The Olifantspoort Scheme will be shutdown from April 2-4 as essential maintenance work on the Witkos DN 1500 of 1.8 km pipeline will be carried out.

“The Witkos pipeline (suction pipeline to Pump Station 3) will be shut down for 48-hours. This shutdown will affect the Olifantspoort Scheme,” a statement read.

The municipality said they are working closely with Lepelle Northern Water and the Capricorn District Municipality to mitigate the impact of this interruption.

“A mitigation plan has been developed to minimise the risk of a total water shortage within the city. We urges residents to use water sparingly during this period.”
