EFF files corruption case against ANC over undeclared luxury SUV

The EFF has filed a corruption case against ANC’s Reuben Madadzhe over an undeclared luxury SUV, but he denies any wrongdoing.

POLOKWANE – The EFF in Limpopo has filed a corruption case against the ANC’s provincial secretary, Reuben Madadzhe, accusing him of failing to declare a luxury SUV to the IEC as required by the Political Party Funding Act.

Madadzhe responded to allegations on social media, explaining that the vehicle in question belonged to his party, and that he had declared a similar one as per the requirements.

ANC provincial secretary Reuben Madadzhe refutes corruption dealings regarding an SUV.

He clarified that the SUV was purchased by the ANC in 2023, not donated, and would remain in the ANC offices should he be redeployed or dissolved. He stressed, “I have nothing to lie about and will never do so”.

EFF provincial chairperson, Lawrence Mapoulo, however, remains unconvinced.

“There’s no smoke without fire,” he said and expressed his belief that the courts would be the best place to determine the truth.

He also pointed that the vehicle was reportedly fitted with blue lights and used by a foreign national to drive Madadzhe.

Complicating matters further, reports suggest that the company responsible for procuring the vehicle denied that it was donated, stating that it had paid for the vehicle and the party later reimbursed the company.

In response to the growing controversy, Madadzhe denied employing a foreign national as his driver and revealed that he had received threats through SMS and WhatsApp over the years.

He explained that these threats had been ongoing since 2022. “Maybe they are unable to infiltrate my security detail and they feel they must do what they did.”

Mapoulo confirmed that all information relating to the matter has been handed over to the police, with the EFF hopeful that a thorough investigation will take place.

Meanwhile, Madadzhe has denied all allegations, stating that he has written to ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula and the party’s Integrity Commission to clear his name.
