Manhunt underway in Mokopane after suspected break-in turns fatal

Limpopo police are on the hunt for the suspects involved in the murder of a Zimbabwean national in Nylpark, Mokopane last week.

MOKOPANE – A manhunt is currently underway for an unknown number of suspects involved in the murder of a male victim in Nyl Park, Mokopane.

Limpopo police, on arrival at the scene in Kudu Street last Thursday (March 27), found emergency service personnel and the lifeless body of a man on the ground with severe injuries, covered with a sheet.

“According to a bystander, the victim was allegedly assaulted by the community who suspected him of trying to break-in at a residence in the area and fled the scene. The motive will be determined by ongoing investigations,” police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said.

He added that the cause of death will be determined by a forensic pathology postmortem that will be conducted in due course.

“The deceased believed to be in his forties was positively identified at the scene by a next of kin as Ernest Mthimkhulu, a Zimbabwean national.”

Ledwaba urged anyone with information that can assist in arresting those responsible to contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Lucas Ledwaba on 072 293 2945, the crime stop number on 08600 10111, at the nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp.
