Polokwane learner creates personalised children’s colouring book

Gr 4 learner Phuti Ntjana creates a unique personalised colouring book, blending fun, education, and farming inspiration from her mother.

POLOKWANE – Phuti Ntjana, a Gr 4 learner at Laerskool Pietersburg Noord (Noordskool), has created a unique children’s colouring book titled ‘Farm Fun Activity’.

The book allows children to personalise their experience by adding their own biography and photo, making it a one-of-a-kind keepsake. Phuti envisions the book as a tool for both entertainment and education, targeting schoolchildren who enjoy reading and colouring, with potential benefits for adults as well.

Phuti explained that her inspiration came from her mother, Selinah Ntjana, a farmer and author of the book ‘Selina The Goat’. Phuti was motivated by her mother’s passion for farming, books and the sight of old colouring books being discarded at home.

“I wanted to create a customised colouring book for children that wouldn’t easily be thrown away because it would include their own photos and details, making it more personal,” she said. The book also features educational and agricultural content, further enriching the experience for its young users.

Phuti began working on the project in December 2022 and launched it on her birthday, March 23 in 2023.

She also actively participates in charity events alongside her mother in Polokwane, visiting primary schools, promoting agriculture, and donating books to learners.

In addition to her entrepreneurial spirit, Phuti is an active netball player and enjoys fishing with her family. She describes herself as a “bookworm,” just like her mother, and aims to create lasting memories for both parents and children through her book.

Phuti encourages her peers with the message, “Nothing is impossible, and impossible is nothing with God. Work hard, and let’s learn to love one another”.
