Pump station fault cuts water supply to Polokwane and Seshego

A shortage of spare parts needed to fix an issue at the Olifantspoort Plant might result in the restoration of water supply to Polokwane and Seshego today.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane residents have been left without water following a power outage at the Olifantspoort Plant’s Pump Station 3.

According to the Polokwane Municipality, the disruption began around 09:00 on Wednesday morning (April 9) after a failure of the Control Transformer Voltage Tap (CTVT), which is Eskom’s responsibility.

Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) confirmed that the issue has been reported and is receiving urgent attention.

“However, due to a shortage of spare parts, Eskom has indicated that power is only likely to be restored today. This is subject to change and Eskom will continue to provide updates on the progress should there be any developments,” municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said.

The outage is affecting all areas supplied by the Olifantspoort Plant, including the city and Seshego.

Selala says the municipality remains in contact with LNW and will continue to share updates.
