Seshego man arrested for girlfriend’s murder

A Seshego man has been arrested after his girlfriend’s body was found in their home with multiple injuries.

POLOKWANE – A 33-year-old man has been taken into custody following the discovery of his girlfriend’s body in their shared home in Seshego Zone 3 on Tuesday night (August 13).

Police were called to the residence late that evening, where they found the body of a 26-year-old woman with multiple injuries.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the police spokesperson, says preliminary findings indicate she may have been killed several days earlier, as her remains were already in the early stages of decomposition.

The suspect, who had been living with the victim at the time, was arrested on the scene and is expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Friday, on a charge of murder.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the killing, calling it “deeply disturbing and senseless,” and urged community members to act early when witnessing signs of, or experiencing, domestic abuse.

“We appeal to the public to come forward before situations escalate into tragedy,” she said.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
