Police probe hit-and-run fatality on N1 near Mokopane

Mokopane police are investigating a hit-and-run on the N1 that left an unidentified man dead. Public urged to share information.

MOKOPANE – Police have launched a culpable homicide investigation following the death of an unidentified man in an alleged hit-and-run accident on the N1 near Mokopane on Sunday (August 17).

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says that this morning, officers responded to a report of a collision and discovered the body of a man, believed to be around 30-years-old, lying next to the road.

A white side mirror, suspected to belong to the vehicle involved, was also recovered at the scene.

“We appeal to members of the public who may have information about the incident or the vehicle to come forward. Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Johannes Makgamatha can be reached at 060 887 7185, or information can be reported via Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS App.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
