Akasia Capitals crowned 2025 Nirvana Premier League champions
Zainul Khadkiwala’s 44 runs helped Akasia Capitals defeat Bombay Challengers to lift the 2025 Nirvana Premier League title.
POLOKWANE – Akasia Capitals clinched the 2025 Nirvana Premier League title after defeating Bombay Challengers by three wickets in the season’s final at the Nirvana Cricket Field last Sunday.
Bombay Challengers, having won the toss, elected to bat first and set a target of 177 runs. Ruan Haasbroek scored 80 runs off 41 balls, while Maaz Mohmmad added 45 runs from 31 deliveries.
Akasia Capitals successfully chased the target of 178 in 18.5 overs, and won by three wickets, with Zainul Khadkiwala scoring 44 runs off 22 balls.
The 2025 season, which ran from May to August, featured 12 teams. The playoff stage included Akasia Capitals, Bangladesh Tigers XI, Bombay Challengers, and Pocha Lions.
In the first qualifier on August 10, Akasia Capitals beat Bangladesh Tigers XI to secure a spot in the final.
On the same day, Bombay Challengers eliminated Pocha Lions to advance to the second qualifier, where they overcame Bangladesh Tigers XI on August 17 to reach the final.
