Police probe medicine found near N1 bus crash site
Authorities are investigating after bottles believed to contain scheduled medicine were found close to the N1 bus crash near Louis Trichardt.
LIMPOPO – Police have opened an inquiry following the discovery of several bottles containing what appears to be medication at the scene of the recent N1 bus incident near Makhado on Sunday, October 13.
According to a statement from the Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the substances were found scattered along the highway a few kilometres outside Makhado town.
The bottles, which appear to contain scheduled medication, were collected for further examination.

Police have launched an official investigation to determine the origin and legality of the substances.
Under Section 22A of the Medicines and Related Substances Act, it is a criminal offence to possess certain scheduled medicines without proper authorisation. Only prescribed quantities issued by a registered practitioner may legally be carried.

At this stage, the owner of the medication has not been identified. Police are appealing to anyone with information, or the lawful owner of the bottles, to contact their nearest police station, call the toll-free Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS app.
