Shaun Molepo’s designs make waves in Polokwane’s fashion scene

From printing T-shirts to high fashion, Polokwane’s Shaun Molepo inspires with his latest Juniorramz collection.

POLOKWANE – Shaun Molepo (24), the owner of Juniorramz Fashion Design Company in Polokwane, recently unveiled his latest collection, Corde. He designs bespoke attire for matric dances, weddings, graduations and other special occasions.

His love for fashion began in high school, when he printed and sold shirts to classmates. In 2021, he took a leap into sewing and refined his skills through a 12-month course at the AC Fashion School in Polokwane. “That’s where I sharpened my skills, and the rest is history,” he said.

Molepo draws inspiration from seeing people feel confident in his creations. “It’s about making a statement wherever you go and leaving people amazed,” he said. The name Juniorramz is a tribute to his father, combining his nickname ‘Remz’ with ‘Junior’.

He has designed outfits for radio and TV presenters and showcased his work in several Polokwane fashion shows. “What I love most is travelling, meeting new people, and experiencing different lifestyles,” he added.

Focused on building a strong, independent brand, Molepo is not rushing into collaborations, preferring to grow steadily. His achievements include winning in three categories at the Polokwane Municipality’s Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) competition and participating in the Polokwane Mercedes-Benz Fashion Show, which raised awareness for emerging designers.

His advice to aspiring creatives: “Follow your dreams and never let anyone tell you otherwise”. Follow his journey on social media under JuniorRemz Collections.

Anne Mametja

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
