PHOTOS: Mrs SA finalist hosts charity dog fashion show in Polokwane

Mrs SA 2025 finalist Manani Botes combined fashion and compassion with her Paws with Purpose dog show in aid of the SA Animal Cancer Association.

POLOKWANE – The glamour of the Mrs South Africa pageant met the charm of man’s best friend when Jacaranda FM presenter and Mrs South Africa 2025 finalist, Manani Botes, hosted a stylish dog fashion show titled ‘Paws with Purpose’ at Mall of the North recently.

The event formed part of Botes’ Mrs South Africa journey and served as a fundraiser and charity initiative in aid of the South African Animal Cancer Association (Saaca) – the first organisation in Africa dedicated to supporting animals with cancer.

Dog owners, spectators, representatives from the SPCA, Mall of the North management and the public gathered for an afternoon of fun and compassion in support of a worthy cause.

Mall of the North general manager Alida Smit welcomed guests, while Willem Bronkhorst from Saaca spoke about the importance of supporting both their organisation and animal rescue initiatives across the country.

“Our mission is to help animals fighting cancer and to raise awareness about the condition,” he said, encouraging continued community involvement.

The atmosphere was uplifted by live music from Nathan Botes, followed by a heartfelt message from his mom and host Manani, who expressed gratitude to everyone who made the day a success.

“All of this wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible sponsors and supporters. Thank you so much for believing in the cause,” she said.

Selma Landman, general manager at the SPCA Polokwane, also took the stage to share more about the organisation’s ongoing work and needs at the shelter.

The highlight of the day was the dog fashion show, where furry contestants strutted down the stage with their proud owners, showing off their unique outfits and personalities.

Each pair was judged on creativity, confidence and presentation before the winners were crowned.

“Thank you to all the dog owners and their companions who took part. You embodied the spirit of Paws with Purpose and every one of you was amazing.”

Winners:
1. Ronel de Wet with her dog, Toffie.
2. Bernard Grové and Leo.
3. Olerato Modise and Thando.

The preliminary competition for Mrs South Africa will take place on November 13 at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, at the Theatre of Marcellus, and the grand finale will take place the following day at the same venue at 20:00. Botes will appreciate the community’s support.

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
