Limpopo’s Queen Kgaphola crowned Miss SA Disability

Queen Botsetse Kgaphola from Mamone village has been crowned Miss South Africa Disability 2025/26, inspiring inclusivity and empowerment.

LIMPOPO – Queen Botsetse Kgaphola (29) from Mamone village was recently crowned Miss South Africa Disability 2025/26 during a ceremony held at the Thohoyandou Town Hall.

The event also honoured former Miss South Africa Disability, Mathilda Mamatseane, who was recognised as the first titleholder.

She received a timeless crown and sash, without a year, symbolising her leadership and influence.

A South African flag was also presented to her as a symbol of unity and representation for people living with disabilities.

Mathilda Mamatseane (former Miss South Africa Disability), Tondani Tshilande (Miss South Africa Disability founder) and Queen Botsetse Kgaphola (Miss South Africa Disability 2025/26).

Kgaphola described her journey as life-changing, and a platform that helped her embrace her identity while advocating for inclusivity.

“This experience has been about more than beauty, it is about courage, leadership, and inspiring change. Each stage challenged me and I learned to use my voice to break stereotypes and redefine what beauty and ability mean in our society,” she said.

Representing her province and eventually winning the national title, Kgaphola said the crown signifies strength, rather than limitation.

One of her most emotional moments was being on stage as the winner.

“The crown represents hope and the power of believing in yourself. When one person with a disability achieves something visible, it opens doors for many others.”

Kgaphola said her vision goes beyond the title. She is working on launching a community foundation that will focus on skills development and mentorship for young people living with disabilities.

With November being Disability Awareness Month, Kgaphola says the month carries deep meaning.

“I wanted to show that people with disabilities are equally capable of greatness. We are here, we are powerful, and we are beautiful”.
