Polokwane woman’s act of kindness goes viral: Help us find her
A heartwarming act of kindness at Wimpy Cycad has gone viral. The Polokwane Review-Observer is searching for the mother and the woman who comforted her baby.
POLOKWANE – A touching act of kindness at Wimpy Cycad has captured the hearts of South Africans after a young woman stepped in to comfort a crying baby so her mother could enjoy her breakfast.
Now, the Polokwane Review-Observer is asking the community to help identify both women so their story can be shared.
The moment took place on Monday morning, where a mother enjoying breakfast with two friends struggled to calm her unsettled baby.
A witness, Glowrii Pieters, shared that just as the group’s food arrived, the baby began crying inconsolably.
According to Pieters, the young mother attempted to soothe her child while still trying to eat, but the baby refused to settle.
A young woman seated with her family at a nearby table noticed the mother’s struggle and stepped forward without hesitation.
“She reached out and said ‘Can I hold her for you?’ The mother gave her the baby and again, the baby kept quiet, peacefully,” Pieters wrote.
The woman continued to comfort the child, allowing the mother and her friends to finish their meal without stress.
Pieters described the moment as ‘heart-melting’ and a reminder of the power of humanity.
“Love knows no colour, it is universal and transcends boundaries,” she said.
The Review-Observer is now reaching out to the community to help identify both the mother and the woman who offered her kindness in the hope of sharing their story in full and celebrate the spirit of unity that unfolded.
Anyone who recognises the women is encouraged to contact the Polokwane Review-Observer via email.
