3 Arrested in Polokwane over alleged prophetic scam
Police arrest three men in Polokwane for an alleged prophetic scam after counterfeit money and rats are found in a Penina Park home.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo police have arrested three men after they were found running a scam disguised as prophetic and spiritual services.
The operation was carried out on Wednesday (December 10) by the Provincial Tracking Team after officers received information about community members being defrauded through fake prophetic claims.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, says police followed up on the tip-off and went to a house in Penina Park, where they found three foreign nationals from Uganda, aged between 32 and 37-years-old. None of the men could produce valid passports.
“During the search, officers recovered an undisclosed amount of counterfeit money along with five rats, which were reportedly used as part of the fraudulent activities. The trio was arrested on the scene.”
Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the team for acting swiftly, urging communities to remain cautious of scams disguised as religious or spiritual practices.
The men are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on charges relating to possession of counterfeit money and violations of the Immigration Act.
Police investigations are ongoing, and anyone with information about similar incidents is encouraged to contact their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
