Thohoyandou principal earns national Batho Pele award
Fulufhelo Special School principal William Ramaano has been honoured with the 2025 National Batho Pele and Innovation Award.
LIMPOPO – The principal of Fulufhelo Special School in Thohoyandou Block G, William Ramaano, is celebrating a remarkable achievement after being named a 2025 National Batho Pele and Innovation Award recipient by the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA).
The awards ceremony took place at Emperors Palace in Gauteng on November 28, where Ramaano received the Special Ministerial Award, a certificate, a trophy and a monetary voucher. The accolade recognises his contribution to public service and his innovative work in the education sector, particularly in supporting learners with special needs.
The National Batho Pele and Innovation Awards, presented annually by the DPSA and the Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI), honour excellence, accountability and creativity in public service. They aim to strengthen the Batho Pele (‘people first) revitalisation strategy by celebrating individuals and institutions that demonstrate exceptional service delivery.
Ramaano said he is grateful for the accolade. “I want to thank the Lord and let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
“Sometimes we reap when we least expect it because God is watching our effort as we serve Him by serving the educational needs of learners who are differently abled. I will continue to glorify God with my life by serving these learners with the time God has afforded me.”
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to those who have supported his journey. “I appreciate the support of my wife and children, the collective effort of my colleagues, and the backing from my Mvudi circuit and the Vhembe district office.
“May the Lord Jesus Christ continue to brighten the future of these learners,” he added.
