Gumbu Peace Makers players injured in bakkie crash
Several Gumbu Peace Makers players were injured when their bakkie overturned near Tshilamusi, with over 20 people taken to hospital.
LIMPOPO – Players from Gumbu Peace Makers, who compete under the Musina Local Football Association, sustained serious injuries when the bakkie they were travelling in overturned last Saturday afternoon near Tshilamusi.
The team was en route to play Tshivaloni Four Boys when the accident occurred. More than 20 people, including players, officials, and supporters, were injured.
All were taken to the Donald Fraser Hospital for treatment, with most discharged after receiving medical care.

Player Khuthadzo Netsianda described the incident as traumatic. “When I woke up, I was in hospital. I am not sure what happened.” Netsianda suffered minor head injuries and a fractured right arm.
“This is the most horrible experience of my life. I cannot sleep and have been suffering from shock and depression. But I strongly believe we were saved by the grace of God,” he added.
Team manager Phethani Manenzhe said the team had accepted what happened and hoped for a full recovery for the players.
“Our boys are ready to continue where they left off and take the league.”

Musina Local Football Association secretary Joseph Manenzhe expressed relief that no lives were lost.
“Although it is sad to learn about the accident, we are grateful that everyone survived,” he said.
Matches scheduled for last week were postponed and will be rescheduled by league administrators. The team and community now focus on recovery and returning safely to the pitch.
