Malamulele police seek public help after body found in stream

Police appeal for information as a Malamulele man's body is found in a stream after he was last seen being assaulted.

LIMPOPO – Malamulele police are appealing to the public for information following the discovery of a 24-year-old man’s body in a stream on Saturday (January 3).

The victim, identified by his next of kin as Xiyani Watters Maluleke from Hasani Mbhalati village, was found floating in the water at approximately 08:30 in Hasani Dakari village.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the deceased was last seen on Thursday (January 1) being assaulted by a group of people at a local liquor store in the same village.

He was then reportedly taken away in a bakkie and did not return home, prompting a search by his family and community members, which led to the grim discovery.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact investigating officer Sergeant Rhulani Mabunda on 083 550 8607, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, their nearest police station, or via the MySAPSApp.

Police investigations are continuing.
