Lebowakgomo Hospital maternity ward closes for 60-day renovations

The maternity ward at Lebowakgomo Hospital will be closed for two months with patients redirected to other wards or referred to nearby hospitals.

LIMPOPO – The Lebowakgomo Hospital will temporarily close its maternity ward for essential renovations for a period of 60 days that started yesterday (Friday, 9 January).

Hospital management confirmed that maternity cases will be diverted to the facility’s Female Medical Ward and Gynaecology Ward for the duration of the upgrade.

Due to reduced bed capacity during construction, some patients may be referred to neighbouring hospitals based on clinical needs and available space.

“We request understanding and patience from the community during this essential maintenance period,” read a statement from the hospital. “We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate the cooperation of all our stakeholders.”

Visiting hours remain unchanged from 12:00–13:00 and 17:00–18:00 daily.

The hospital has provided the following contact details for patient and community enquiries:

  • Mr M.E. Seepe (Chief Executive Officer): 063 980 7075
  • Dr M.R. Mohlahlana (Senior Clinical Manager): 060 333 3333
  • Ms M.W. Tsikana (Nurse Manager): 073 979 2402

The renovation project is aimed at improving infrastructure and service delivery in the maternity unit.
