ANC Limpopo commemorates Peter Mokaba’s birthday

Party members, including Secretary Fikile Mbalula, visited Peter Mokaba's home and gravesite in Mankweng to honour the late youth leader.

POLOKWANE – The ANC in the province commemorated the life and legacy of Peter Mokaba on January 7, marking what would have been his 67th birthday.

The series of events started at Mankweng when ANC Secretary Fikile Mbalula alongside other party members visited the home of Mokaba for a briefing session.

From the family home, the delegation proceeded to Mokaba’s gravesite for a wreath laying ceremony led by regional chairperson John Mpe.

Members of the Mokaba family delivered messages on remembrance.

“My uncle was not only a leader of the youth; he was a fearless voice of a generation. He believed deeply in the power of education and the role of young people in shaping the country’s future,” said his niece, Mapula Mokaba.

The delegation later shifted to the Thune sports ground at Ga-Mamabolo for the official rally.

Mbalula in his keynote address reflected on Mokaba’s contribution to the ANC and the development of young leaders. “He consistently urged young people to pursue education so they can contribute meaningfully to the country’s social and economic transformation,” he said.

The official programme ended with cake-cutting ceremony in honour of Mokaba’s birthday.
