Mankweng murder suspect arrested after victim succumbs

A female suspect has been arrested for a Mankweng murder after the victim died from a December assault, and will appear in court on Monday.

LIMPOPO – Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended police for the prompt arrest of a female suspect in connection with a recent murder in Mankweng.

The arrest followed a murder case registered on Tuesday (January 13), after a 33-year-old man succumbed to injuries in hospital.

The incident in the RDP section

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says initial police reports indicate the incident stems from a meeting between the victim and the suspect on Tuesday (December 30) in the Nobody RDP section.

According to the report, the suspect screamed, leading to the victim being brutally assaulted and robbed of his belongings by the suspect and a male accomplice. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment at the time, but no case was reported.

The victim later died on January 13 from injuries sustained in the assault, prompting the murder investigation.

Suspect apprehended

Following investigations, the suspect was located and arrested at a rented room in Nobody village.

She is scheduled to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday (January 19), facing a charge of murder.
