Donate supplies for flood relief in Limpopo and Mpumalanga

Help support Jacaranda FM's Good Morning Angels for those who have lost their homes and belongings in the floods.

POLOKWANE – Mall of the North is supporting Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels initiative, which aims to bring essential supplies and hope to flood-stricken communities in Limpopo and Mpumalanga through Project Flood Relief.

Since last week, severe storms have caused widespread devastation in parts of the two provinces, which have been declared disaster areas. At least 37 fatalities have been reported.

Floodwaters, overflowing rivers, and destroyed bridges and roads have isolated many communities. Thousands of people have been displaced, while towns like Phalaborwa and numerous rural areas have been left without water or electricity.

The damage to homes, businesses, and public infrastructure is estimated in the billions. Aid organisation Gift of the Givers has identified the most urgent needs as basic necessities: bottled water, food, baby formula, nappies, and toiletries.

This is where Jacaranda FM and the public can help.

How you can help

Jacaranda FM is appealing to listeners, companies, and organisations to donate the listed items at designated drop-off points. Gift of the Givers will collect and distribute all donations to the hardest-hit areas.

Donations towards the relief efforts can be made via the Donate Button on jacarandafm.com.

All funds donated between January 21 and January 25 will go towards the Gift of the Givers’ disaster relief efforts in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

What to Donate:

• Non-perishable foods.
• Bottled water.
• Baby nappies.

Anne Mametja

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
